Mar 8	Old Friends Reunite at Lakehead and Enter Clever Sustainability Video in TD's Go Green Challenge (Thunder Bay) With a background in forestry and GIS, and a desire to improve the value that urban landscapes and neighbourhoods can get from trees, Lakehead students Bradley Doff and Peter Stevens created a four-minute stop-motion film that uses the Lakehead University-Thunder Bay campus as a case-study. The stop-motion film informs, entertains, and hopes to win the People's Choice Award for the TD Go Green Challenge.
Mar 7	Lakehead Offers Hands-On Learning for Intermediate Students During National Engineering Week (Thunder Bay) Intermediate students from Thunder Bay schools gathered at Lakehead University to take part in National Engineering Week events. In teams, the students worked to build bridges, create catapults, and engage in a junk drawer war.
Feb 25	Lakehead Researchers Receive $2.5 Million in Funding for Resources and Sustainable Development in the Arctic (Thunder Bay) Lakehead researchers, led by Dr. Chris Southcott, have received $2.5 million from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Major Collaborative Research Initiatives grant program. Minister of State for Science and Technology, Gary Goodyear, was on campus to make the announcement, accompanied by Dr. Chad Gaffield, SSHRC President, and Kenora MP Greg Rickford.
Feb 23	Postdoctoral Fellows Recognized for Innovative Research (Thunder Bay) As part of Research and Innovation Week 2011, Lakehead's postdoctoral fellows participated in a poster competition. The top three innovative researchers were chosen as winners.
Feb 17	Lakehead Accounting Students Take First Place in Asper School of Business GAAPS Competition (Thunder Bay) Lakehead's Faculty of Business Administration accounting students have taken first prize in the tenth Gathering of Accounting Academics, Practitioners, and Students (GAAPS).The first place win for the Lakehead University team comes with a trophy and $1,500 in prize money to share.

Jan 21	The CFI Awards $312,292 to Lakehead University to Support Science Researchers (Thunder Bay) Lakehead Professor of Geology, Dr. Philip Fralick, receives $312, 292 to fund the purchase of a field-emisson based scanning electron microscope. This will allow Lakehead researchers to work at the nanometer scale.
