Why was Lakehead the right university for you?
As a resident of Thunder Bay, Lakehead University was the perfect school for me to attend.  Not only was I able to study in my hometown and see my family and friends on a regular basis, I was also able to meet and befriend people from across the globe (as far as the Cayman Islands!) through my program and other events.  The small class sizes and specialized programs really catered to my preferred method of learning, and I was on a first-name basis with my very approachable and helpful professors.

What is your fondest memory of Lakehead?
My fondest memory of Lakehead is the time spent with my friends and classmates.  Whether we were working on group assignments, pulling an all-nighter studying for that Finance final, or hanging out at The Outpost between classes, I was always surrounded by great people that I never would have met if I hadn’t attended Lakehead.

What was your favourite Lakehead hangout?
My favourite hang-out was The Study.  An avid tea drinker, I was able to experiment with many different types of loose-leaf tea while chatting with friends, playing a game of pool or working on assignments.

What was the best study spot on campus?
My favourite study spot on campus was on the fifth floor of the ATAC building. Comfy chairs and a beautiful view of the city of Thunder Bay make for a great study atmosphere.

Who was your most memorable professor? Why?
My most memorable professor was Robert Isotalo who taught me multiple marketing courses. He always encouraged a lot of class discussion, which really helped to gain a comprehensive understanding of the topics by listening to viewpoints from all of my classmates. He would challenge us and I always felt a strong sense of accomplishment after completing his courses.

What was your most embarrassing Lakehead moment?
My most embarrassing Lakehead moment was in my first year Economics class. This was my biggest class and one day I walked in late and was trying to rush up to my seat and managed to ever so gracefully trip on the stairs on my way up. That was a prime example of my clumsiness shining through!

What has your Lakehead degree done for you?
My Lakehead degree has allowed me to develop many transferable skills that have helped me post-graduation.  The courses I took and the knowledge I gained while in school have helped me in many different aspects of my life. From practical experience to theoretical knowledge, I am a more well-rounded person after graduating from Lakehead and am ready to take on the world!

Any advice for upcoming Lakehead students?
My advice for upcoming Lakehead students is to make sure you create as much balance as you can while in school--don’t get caught up and overwhelmed in just one area! The school work and social aspects are both equally important and contribute to the best four years of your life.  Work hard, have fun and cherish every moment of the experience!
