In April 2014, Dr. Salem was awarded a 5-year NSERC Dicovery Grant to expand his research programs and invistigate the structural fire performance of building systems made of new engineered-wood products. Dr. Salem focuses in this reserach program on the behaviour of structural members and assemblies made of Glue-Laminated Timber (Glulam) and Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) at both ambient and elevated temperatures. Most of the acquired research fund will be utilized to support graduate students conducting research in the Structural Fire Testing & Reserach Laboratory. For more information, click here.
