Current Position: Wellness Strategy Coordinator, Human Resources & Student Affairs (January 2024 to current)
Jonathon is currently serving as the Wellness Strategy Coordinator, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing the university's Wellness Strategy, Our Trail to Wellness. In this capacity, Jonathon is responsible for coordinating and implementing initiatives that promote the health and well-being of the university community, aligning with the strategic goals of fostering a supportive and thriving environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Within this position he is also a co-chair of the Lakehead University Social Committee, where he helps organize and oversee events and activities that foster social engagement and a sense of community among Lakehead employees. His role involves planning, coordinating, and executing various social initiatives that aim to enhance the overall campus experience by promoting interaction, collaboration, and a supportive environment within the university. His efforts contribute significantly to creating a more interconnected and vibrant campus community.

Previous Role: Health Promotion Activities Lead, Student Health and Wellness (September 2022 to December 2023)
Before stepping into his current role, Jonathon was the Health Promotion Activities Lead in Student Health and Wellness. In this position, he developed and led various health promotion initiatives, like Take10, focusing on enhancing the well-being of students through education, outreach, and the development of health-focused programs. His work was instrumental in creating a healthier campus environment, and he was known for his innovative approaches to student engagement and wellness.
Personal Background:
A long-time resident of Thunder Bay, Jonathon is deeply connected to the local community. He humorously refers to himself as a "professional student," having spent many years pursuing higher education at Lakehead University. Jonathon holds a BSc in Computer Science (2005-2009), an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology (HBK, 2014-2018), and a Master of Science in Kinesiology (MSc-Kin, 2018-2021). He is also a certified First Aid Instructor with the Canadian Red Cross (#103377167), has extensive experience in supporting individuals living with a disability, and is the Head Coach of the local Athletics (Track & Field) program for Special Olympics Ontario Thunder Bay. His diverse personal and academic background, coupled with his extensive experience in health promotion, uniquely positions him to contribute to the well-being of the Lakehead community.
