Sheila Pelletier-Demerah
Confederation College - Accounting & Finance
Sheila provides administrative support to the Indigenous Student Services Centre (ISSC) team here at Lakehead University, and is a direct connection to the Offices of Indigenous Initiatives (II). She is a member of the Fort William First Nation, and a graduate of Confederation College where she earned a diploma in Accounting & Finance. She has worked for a number of Indigenous organizations over the years including the Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund, Fort William First Nation and Anishinabek Police Services. As Indigenous Student Services Centre first point of contact for new and returning students, Sheila excels at making students feel welcomed and comfortable, and is a warm and personable presence in the students lounge during feasts and student events. She is friendly, outgoing, and more than willing to do the little extras to ensure students receive the supports and encouragement they need. Sheila enjoys her position and looks forward to greeting students and encouraging them to attend events and activities hosted by ISSC and II. She is the lady to see when you want to know what’s happening in Indigenous Initiatives programs, and she will always have a lovely smile for you.
Sheila enjoys beading, leatherwork and learning about her culture through traditional crafts. As a skilled craftsperson, Sheila shares her knowledge of beading and leather work with other community members at her First Nation’s sewing group. She spends her free time with her husband and children, and she loves animals.
