Sheila Pelletier-Demerah
Confederation College - Accounting & Finance
Sheila provides essential administrative support to the Indigenous Student Services Centre (ISSC) team at Lakehead University and serves as a direct liaison to the Offices of Indigenous Initiatives (II). A proud member of Fort William First Nation, Sheila is a graduate of Confederation College, where she earned a diploma in Accounting and Finance.
With extensive experience working with Indigenous organizations—including the Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund, Fort William First Nation, and Anishinabek Police Services—Sheila brings a deep understanding of community needs and student support. As the first point of contact for both new and returning students at the ISSC, Sheila is known for creating a warm, welcoming environment. Her friendly, outgoing nature and genuine care make her a comforting presence in the student lounge during feasts and events. Always ready to go the extra mile, Sheila ensures students feel supported and encouraged throughout their academic journey.
She takes great pride in her role and looks forward to welcoming students while promoting participation in events and activities organized by ISSC and II. If you want to know what’s happening in Indigenous Initiatives programs, Sheila is your go-to person—and she’ll greet you with her signature warm smile.
Outside of work, Sheila is a skilled craftsperson who enjoys beading, leatherwork, and learning more about her culture through traditional crafts. She generously shares her knowledge with others and cherishes spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
