Previous Teaching/Work: 

Professor Janusz Koziński has enjoyed a distinguished academic career in leading institutions in the USA, Europe, and Canada. He is an internationally-renowned higher education leader, researcher and entrepreneur, and one of the world’s most widely acknowledged experts in sustainable energy systems. He received the Gold Medal in 2022 at the Ontario Professional Engineers Awards Gala and the 2023 Gold Medal awarded by Engineers Canada, the highest honour for an engineer in Canada. He is Professional Engineer and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.

Educated in Kraków, Poland, he subsequently conducted research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and spent much of his academic career at McGill University where he was Associate Vice-Principal for Research & International Relations.

He was Founding Dean of the Lassonde School of Engineering in Toronto and Founding President of the New Model Institute in the UK.

He completed prestigious Advanced Management & Leadership Programme at Oxford University and the Executive Education Program, Crisis Leadership in Higher Education, at Harvard University.

He is currently Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Lakehead University leading a new trans-disciplinary initiative applying key driving forces in the 21st century science and engineering to create a novel type of academic programs.

Fueled by an entrepreneurial and inventive spirit, Dr. Koziński founded his own consulting company and has collaborated with multinational firms around the globe. He has also served on boards of a number of companies, including as chairman.

Janusz went into ‘space’ on a series of zero-gravity parabolic flights organized by the European Space Agency, swam with great white sharks off the coast of Cape Town, and co-produced a documentary entitled ‘Let Me Do It’ about new trends in engineering education. He sees the necessity and beauty in bringing people together to not only solve problems of today and tomorrow, but to inspire each other to improve the social fabric of our societies.
