She has also held the positions of Superintendent of Human Resources, Superintendent of family of schools and was seconded to the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) for the development of provincial assessments.

Mrs Gauthier has a proven track record in School Board leadership.

In her role as Director of Education at the TCDSB her focus has been on:

  • Nurturing and sustaining a Catholic learning environment for the Board’s 90,000 students and their families
  • Maximizing Catholic leadership capacity in senior leaders,
  • Building leadership teams
  • Enhancing the appropriate climate for innovative, 21st Century learning
  • Assuring appropriate policy development and school board governance
  • Creating and sustaining successful partnerships
  • Engaging stakeholder participation in a multi-cultural, diverse and inclusive environment

One of the highlights of Mrs. Gauthier’s career has been a service trip to Kenya with the organisation Free the Children.

This brief experience was a formative one as it reinforced a deep respect and appreciation for diversity and the beauty of Africa, cradle of civilisation.

Mrs. Gauthier’s moral purpose throughout her education career was motivated and inspired by her own immigrant experience, having come to Canada as a young child.  Her parent’s efforts, hard work and sacrifices in order to build a better life for their children created a strong lens with which to view the experience and struggles of today’s immigrant families in Canada and in particular the GTA and to ensure that the educational system is responsive to their needs.

This passion continues to inspire Mrs. Gauthier’s volunteer work and in particular her position on the Board of Directors of the organisation “Catholic Crosscultural Services”, a not for profit charity dedicated to the resettlement of refugees and immigrants in the Toronto Area.
