Program Information

At Lakehead University the School of Kinesiology studies human movement within a variety of contexts, including but not limited to: anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, psychology, sociology, motor control, adapted, and sociocultural.

Students of Kinesiology will gain an understanding of the science of human movement; an ability to think analytically, critically, and creatively and to make decisions on the basis of evidence, ethics, and values; knowledge, competencies, and skills to pursue and achieve professional certifications; and a holistic appreciation of kinesiology examined from a lifespan perspective that includes application to all populations.

How the Transfer Program Works

You enter into Year 2 of the four-year Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology program, and can complete your degree in as little as three years. Canadore College students must complete an online bridging course (e.g. Kinesiology 0517 - Kinesiology Program Preparation) during the spring/summer term prior to the start of the program.

  • Complete either Canadore College's, Collège Boréal's, Georgian College's, or Sault College's two-year Occupational Therapy Assistant/ Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma, and
  • Achieve an overall average of at least 75%.

Native Child & Family Services Diploma to Honours Bachelor of Social Work Degree Transfer Program

Program Information

The profession of social work is an exciting and diverse one. From working to develop social policy to providing counselling to individuals and families, social workers are committed to social justice and the well-being of all members of society. Here, at Lakehead University, our program provides you with an opportunity to learn the necessary knowledge and skills to begin your career as a social worker.   • Achieve an overall average of at least 75%.

To apply, please:

  1. Use the OUAC Undergraduate Application. You may need to create an account first, if you have never applied using the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) before. 
  2. Select the program Outdoor Recreation (Pathways with Select Ontario Colleges: Confederation, Dawson, Georgian, and Sault) (Thunder Bay Campus only). The OUAC program code is ABI.
  3. Select Outdoor Recreation Major (Thunder Bay) from the Subject of Major Interest drop-down menu.
  4. As you proceed through the application process, use the Online Transcript Request to have your transcript(s) sent to us, if applicable: 
    1. We require all of your post-secondary transcripts (i.e. from all colleges and universities attended).
    2. We do not require your high school transcript.
    3. Some colleges do not add in progress courses to their transcripts. If you are currently completing courses, you are encouraged to upload a screenshot of your upcoming winter term courses to your myInfo account. You will receive your myInfo login credentials in an acknowledgement email from us upon receipt of your application (which can take a few days after you apply using the OUAC).

Fish & Wildlife Conservation Technician Diploma to Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management Degree Transfer Program

Program Information

Modern Natural Resources Management is about people, science and technology. It manages the natural environment for the benefit of society, through the application of both natural and social science. As a student, you will acquire a complement of business skills, scientific expertise, along with practical experience; in fact, everything necessary to create meaningful and lasting solutions environmental challenges of today. You have the opportunity to discover methods that will sustain our forests and ecosystems for generations to come. Should you decide to enrol in Environmental Management, you may choose between three options after your second year of study: Wildlife Conservation and Management, Sustainable Land Use, or Conservation Management and Planning.

Graduates of the Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management degree may apply to join the Canadian Association of Environment, and they may also seek accreditation for their Environmental Professional Certification with ECO Canada.

Graduates who successfully complete the Wildlife Conservation and Management specialization are eligible for accreditation as a Certified Wildlife Biologist by the Wildlife Society.

How the Transfer Program Works

You enter into Year 3 of the four-year Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management program, and can complete your degree in as little as two years. All admits are required to complete the four-week summer transition program prior to entering the fall semester. The summer transition classes normally begin in July. To see the courses that are part of the program, refer to our Academic Calendar and select:

  1. Programs & Faculties from the menu,
  2. Undergraduate Programs from the Faculty of Natural Resources Management section, and
  3. Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management, Transfer Opportunities from the list of programs. 
  4. You should also review Years 3 and 4 found using the Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management link.

To be consider for admission, you must:

  • Complete a two-year Fish & Wildlife Conservation Technician Diploma from an accredited Ontario college, and
  • Achieve a 70% average in the final year of the program.

Fish & Wildlife Conservation Technician Diploma to Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry Degree Transfer Program

Program Information

As a student, you will acquire a complement of business skills, scientific expertise, along with practical experience; in fact, everything necessary to create meaningful and lasting solutions environmental challenges of today. You have the opportunity to discover methods that will sustain our forests and ecosystems for generations to come. By focusing your Forestry studies within a specialization, you will delve deeper into the areas of Forest Management, Wood Science, or Forest Health and Protection.

Lakehead's Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry degree is nationally accredited by the Canadian Forestry Accreditation Board. This means that graduates of both the co-op and non co-op programs meet the academic requirements of membership in a number of professional forest associations in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Graduates are also qualified for membership in the Canadian Institute of Forestry, and they are eligible to apply for registration with the Ontario Professional Foresters Association to obtain their Registered Professional Forester (R.P.F.) designation.
