Welcome to Positivi-Tea

At Positivi-Tea, connection, comfort, and a cup of tea can make all the difference. Our gatherings are designed to inspire meaningful conversations, foster community, and encourage personal growth - all while sipping a carefully selected tea blend that complements each season.

Launched in Fall 2023 by Lakehead International, Positivi-Tea is designed with international students in mind, but all students are welcome! Whether you’ve been at Lakehead for a while or you’re new to Thunder Bay, this is a space to share your story, exchange cultural experiences, and make authentic connections with fellow students.

Whether you’re looking for a mindful moment, emotional support, or simply a safe space to share and listen, Positivi-Tea offers the perfect blend of warmth and well-being.

What to Expect at Positivi-Tea Gatherings

Fall & Winter Positivi-Tea Sessions

Our seasonal sessions are designed to match the rhythm of Fall and Winter, reflecting on change, nurturing gratitude, cultivating connections, building inner strength and growth.

Fall Term

Fall session 1: New Beginnings - Building Connections

The start of a new semester can feel both exciting and overwhelming, especially when you’re adjusting to a new place or culture. In this first Positivi-Tea session of the year, we’ll create space for introductions and conversations about fresh starts, making friends, and finding your place at Lakehead.

Whether you’re new or returning, this is the perfect place to meet new faces and start building your support circle!

Fall Session 2: Gratitude & Growth

As Fall settles in, we’ll reflect on the things, big or small, that help us feel grounded and grateful. This session encourages students to pause, share meaningful moments, and explore simple gratitude practices for emotional well-being.

A small moment of gratitude can spark new connections and shift your whole perspective.

Fall Session 3: Sharing Our Cultures - Celebration of Stories

Our Lakehead University community is rich with culture, tradition, and stories. This session invites you to share memories from home, seasonal customs, or personal traditions. Let’s explore how culture shapes belonging and how diverse experiences can bring us closer. 

No matter where you’re from, your story is a gift. Come share yours.

Fall Session 4: Mindful Moments Before Winter Break

As the winter semester winds down, it’s easy to feel the pressure of final projects, exams, or the quiet that comes with winter. This final Fall session is all about slowing down and caring for yourself. You’ll learn simple mindfulness practices to stay grounded through the season.

A calm mind is the perfect gift you can give yourself before the winter break.

 

Winter Term

Winter Session 1: New Year, New Intentions - Embracing Change
The new year is a fresh start, but it can also feel a little lonely returning from the break, especially if you stayed on campus or away from family. This session helps you reflect on personal growth, set gentle intentions for the months ahead, and reconnect with the community.

A new chapter begins, and you don’t have to face it alone!
Winter Session 2: Winter Wellness - Caring for Mind, Body & Soul

Winter blues and academic pressures can weigh heavily during this time of year. This Positivi-Tea session focuses on emotional well-being, sharing self-care strategies, and simple ways to lift your spirits on cold days.

You’ll leave with more than tea - you’ll leave with tools for brighter, calmer days.

Winter Session 3: Bloom Where You Are: Self-Care for Every Season
We will discover simple self-care strategies for your mind, body and heart. You will get to learn and share how to recharge, find balance, and create supportive habits that work for you. Self-care looks different for everyone - this is your time to explore what helps you feel good, grounded, and whole.

Winter Session 4: Reflection & Celebration - Your Journey Matters

As the academic year comes to a close, we pause to celebrate growth, both seen and unseen. This session offers space for you to reflect on personal wins, challenges, and the connections made along the way. A circle of gratitude to end the season.

What is Positivi-Tea?
Positivi-Tea is a monthly gathering for students to share experiences, reflect, and connect with others in a supportive and relaxed environment — all while enjoying tea and light snacks.
Who can attend?
All Lakehead University students are welcome! While Positivi-Tea was created with international students in mind, everyone is invited to join and share.
Is there a cost to attend?
Nope! Positivi-Tea is completely free. Tea, snacks, and good company are always provided.
Do I have to talk or share?
You are welcome to just listen, sip your tea, and enjoy the space. Sharing is always optional… sharing is caring!
When and where are the sessions?
Sessions are hosted once a month during the academic year in the International Student Lounge. Exact dates and times are posted on Lakehead International’s website and social media.
How do I sign up?
Easy! Click on the sign-up link. Pre-registration helps us prepare snacks and tea for everyone.
