32nd Annual Lakehead University Native Student Association Pow Wow 2021 Online Edition!

Saturday, March 20th, 2021 - 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm EST

The Lakehead University Native Students Association is proud to announce that we will be hosting a 32nd powwow this year.

Due to the Gichi-aakoziwin (Big sickness) the annual powwow was cancelled in 2020. Thankfully this year we are celebrating our resiliency and we will be having an online cultural celebration. We are inviting the community to share their dances, songs, and stories.

Join us on the Lakehead University Native Association Facebook page or YouTube on Saturday, March 20th form 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm EST

February 12th, 2021 - 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Via zoom

Elton Beardy is Anishinini from Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug. He is a cultural educator, storyteller, and writer. Based in Thunder Bay, he currently works as a Youth Outreach Worker for the Biwaase'aa program, where he provides cultural support for secondary students. In his spare time, he enjoys everything Star Wars, gaming, and eating way too much pizza.

Together, through etymology, we will be examining the teachings, philosophy, and history behind the sacred law known as Love. This discussion will inform us on a better understanding of the way our ancestors viewed Love, and the various forms it takes in Anishinaabeg culture through traditional stories and personal experiences.
