Description: 
A study of literary, film, and popular texts on environmental themes in several modes and genres, such as documentary film, experimental poetry, magical realism, satire, and speculative fiction. Writers, filmmakers, and popular culture texts imagine and respond in a variety of ways to local and transnational ecological changes. These representations raise ethical, political, and aesthetic questions for study. Topics may include concepts of risk and pollution, non-human animals, social constructions of nature, waste, environmental justice and feminism, consumer culture, apocalypticism, and climate change
