A study of Canadian literature from the eighteenth century until the 1960s, featuring a range of genres, such as fiction, travel and exploration narrative, life writing, poetry, songs drama and film. Topics to be covered may include the role of literature in shaping a distinct national identity, the adaption of literary forms to a particularly Canadian experience, the representation of the natural landscape, and/or the shifting representation of the First Nations
