STSE is an acronym for Science, Technology, Society and Environment, and refers to investigating the social, political, economic, and cultural aspects of science and technology. Critically examining the relationships between science, technology, society and environment is a way of contextualizing science for students. Several approaches to STSE will be examined, including historical, philosophical, and sociological approaches, as well as the infusion of environmental education within science education.
