Commuter Challenge Week: Take the Challenge!
Lakehead's Office of Sustainability is encouraging you to take the Commuter Challenge and win great prizes!
Commuter Challenge is a friendly, national competition that encourages daily commuters to choose sustainable modes of transportation for the benefit of their health and the environment. It’s also a fun way of building leadership and camaraderie in our workplace.
This year Lakehead University is taking the Challenge along with other workplaces in Thunder Bay, and we want you to join us!
From June 3 – June 9, hundreds of employees across Thunder Bay will cycle, walk, run, bus, carpool or telecommute their way to work, or where ever they would normally drive their car alone. You can register yourself and track your daily active commutes on the Commuter Challenge website at http://app.commuterchallenge.ca/commuter/register/PqBIPX
By registering as an individual on the website you will have a chance to win exciting prizes.
The first 200 employees to register will receive free transit passes for the week of June 3-9.
The first 50 employees to register will be entered into a draw to receive prizes, including bike equipment and FREE registration in a workplace commuter cycling skills course!
Post-challenge prizes will also be awarded to:
- The employee with the most CO2 saved
- The most epic or unconventional commute
- The most modes of commuting
You will also help our University win as we strive for the highest participation rates in our employee category!
Last year over 100 employees of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre participated in commuter challenge week. Think Lakehead University can surpass this? Help make it happen! Make Lakehead a workplace leader in sustainable transportation!
Stay tuned for programming during the week of June 3-9, including a free breakfast for commuter champions, and a free drop-in bike tune-up sponsored by a local bike shop.
