#ITSTARTS with dialogue.  Join us for this webinar to hear from representatives of different faiths to explore the role of interfaith dialogue against polarization.

This webinar brings together distinguished voices from diverse faith traditions to explore how interfaith dialogue can address polarization, foster mutual understanding, and strengthen social cohesion in increasingly divided societies.

The panel features Rev. Dr. Brad Shoemaker, a scholar-practitioner with extensive experience in correctional chaplaincy, spiritual care, psychotherapy, and research on faith-based rehabilitation; Jeff Wellman and Emma Gottlieb, leaders in interfaith and community engagement who have played a central role in building dialogue and solidarity across communities in Simcoe County; and Dr. Albert Frolov, a researcher and lecturer whose work focuses on comparative theology, philosophy of religion, and interfaith dialogue.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Davut Akca, Assistant Professor at Lakehead University, whose research and community work focus on dialogue, polarization, hate speech, and social cohesion.

Co-organized by Lakehead University and Simcoe Engage and Empower with Dialogue (SEED) as part of the County of Simcoe’s #ITSTARTS campaign, this lunchtime webinar offers an opportunity to engage with thoughtful perspectives, ask questions, and reflect on the role of dialogue in countering polarization and promoting inclusive communities.
