Anita Vaillancourt is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Lakehead University. Her teaching experience includes a range of courses in the areas of social policy, clinical practice, and research with a focus on northern and rural social work, social welfare, addiction, child welfare, group work, and Social Work practice with Indigenous Peoples.

Research Interests: 

Anita’s current research interests focus on anti-colonial policy and practice, critical andragogy, and income and health equity within the broader context of ecology and sustainability. Her teaching, practice, and research endeavors are informed by over 10 years of social work practice in the areas of addiction, domestic violence, child welfare, community development, and social policy. Anita’s work is further shaped by her community work as an activist for Indigenous and women’s rights.
