Academic Qualifications:
Catherine Umolac’s primary field is Canadian Literature with a focus on Indigenous Literatures. Dr. Umolac’s areas of interest include the nation, memoirs, archives, diaspora, globalization, the dialogic, and constructions of citizenship. She has taught a wide range of courses such as Contemporary Canadian Literature, The Short Story, Composition and Rhetoric, and Studies of Character and Culture in World Literature. At Lakehead, Dr. Umolac has taught Indigenous Literatures and Native and Newcomer Literature. She is committed to developing students’ critical thinking skills and creating a collaborative learning environment.
