Bio

For the past two decades, Sacha has taught learners the foundations of research and biostatistics at Lakehead, Queens, and NOSM Universities. Sacha is both an Associate Member of the Centre for Research on Safe Driving, Lakehead University and the Centre for Applied Health Research, St. Joseph’s Care Group, Thunder Bay.

Before joining the School of Nursing, Sacha was a Research Statistician (2006-2023) with the Centre for Applied Health Research, St. Joseph’s Care Group. As a Research Statistician, Sacha applied specialized knowledge of both research methodology and advanced statistical principles to research, analysis, and educational activities.

His research experiences aim to embody the School of Nursing’s core values while supporting its strategic goals and fall into four main areas:

  1. Injury Prevention and Reduction: Given Sacha’s diverse research background this area spans such topics as road safety, immunization and infection control, and efficacy and adverse events of drug therapies.
  2. Wellness and Mental Health: Considers novel approaches to address depression and anxiety along with identifying, destigmatizing, and addressing mental health care needs.
  3. Collaboration and Mentorship: Nurturing health sciences learners’ scholarly activities by providing methodological, statistical, and dissemination guidance and support.
  4. Learner Anxiety and Statistical Literacy: As a life-long learner, Sacha is pursuing a PhD in Educational Studies with a focus on learner anxiety and its transformative opportunities.
