Setting Up a Spin-Off Company: With guest presenter Jay Lefton

SETTING UP START-UP COMPANIES: Tips for the Entrepreneur.

Jay Lefton practices in the areas of corporate and securities law. His clients range from start-ups to multinationals, and he also advises inventors and academic institutions in connection with the commercialization of discoveries.

He will be discussing commercial and tax considerations associated with establishing a company, getting your inventions into the company, and dealing with employees, consultants, investors and shareholders.

Jay will talk about common mistakes that startups make, and how to avoid them. Jay has been an Adjunct Faculty member of Osgoode Hall Law School and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Business. Jay is a graduate of Port Arthur Collegiate Institute and the University of Toronto law school.
