Academic Qualifications:

BScEng, Sahand University of Technology
MScEng, Sahand University of Technology
PhD, University of Saskatchewan

Research Interests:

Catalytic total oxidation of organic pollutants in gas/liquid phase
Removal of inorganic gases (NH3 and H2S) from air by adsorption
Catalytic reforming of greenhouse gases (CO2 and CH4) to value added products
Catalytic conversion of biomass
Modelling, simulation, and optimization of chemical engineering processes

Dr. Rezaei obtained his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in chemical engineering. His BSc was majored in petrochemical engineering and his MSc was in process design and optimization. Dr. Rezaei’s MSc thesis was on solving mixed-integer non-linear programming problems to retrofit heat exchanger networks. The focus of his PhD at the University of Saskatchewan was on synthesizing heterogeneous catalysts for low temperature oxidation of organic indoor air pollutants using ozone. After completing his PhD, Dr. Rezaei worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Ottawa, developing materials for odour removal by adsorption processes and for conversion of greenhouse gases to value-added products. Dr. Rezaei’s current research at Lakehead University focuses on process system engineering and heterogeneous catalysis including modelling, simulation, and optimization of liquid metal bubble reactors for CO2-free hydrogen production by CH4 decomposition; design, optimization, and techno-economic assessment of environmentally friendly processes for the reformation of CO2 to intermediate and final products; catalytic ozonation of water and wastewater pollutants; and catalytic conversion of biomass to value-added products.
