(OR) WellU Wednesday: It's Your Move RecFest

It’s Your Move, Thunderwolves! Join SHW and Campus Rec to find out how you can get active this semester. Drop in at the Orillia Rec Centre to:

  • Pick up and activate your FUN Pass
  • Take a tour of the Orillia Rec Centre
  • Meet reps from Campus Rec
  • Learn about fitness and intramural offerings on campus
  • Play drop-in pickleball!

Learn about different aspects of healthy relationships at the WellU Healthy Relationships Fair. The Healthy Relationships fair will feature activities and information relevant to various relationships such as friendships, romantic relationships, sexual relationships, and relationships with ourselves! You can also meet representatives from and learn about health serivces in the community including:

Stop by the dining hall between 12 pm and 2 pm to mix your mocktail and play Mario Kart! You’ll also be able to win prizes by playing mini putt and making your candy mocktail topper at the candy bar.

Join Student Health and Wellness for the first WellU Wednesday of the Fall Semester: the WellU Block Party!! Drop by to learn about wellness services available to support you while you are a Thunderwolf. You’ll also have a chance to meet some of our practitioners, play games, do crafts, and win prizes!

Walk in the Woods

Join Lakehead International and Student Health and Wellness for a leisurely walk on a local trail! No hiking skills required. Please don't forget to bring a water bottle, hat/sunglasses, and wear closed-toe shoes.

Moose Hide Campaign Day

The Moose Hide Campaign is a grassroots movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous men and boys who are standing up against violence towards women and children. Join us for our Moose Hide Campaign Day event! An evening in solidarity against gendered violence on Turtle Island, where we’ll drum, sing, walk and strengthen community. Refreshments will be provided. All are welcome!

This event is offered in partnership with Orillia Native Women's Group, Georgian College, and student leaders at Lakehead University.

(OR) Sacred Fire

Join Frazer Phillips, Indigenous Cultural Wellness Facilitator, to connect with the land & de-stress. All are welcome to come and learn about what a sacred fire is and how it may benefit you during a stressful time.

This event is offered collaboratively from the Office of Indigenous Initiatives and Student Health and Wellness

Lakehead Leader Awards recognize exceptional students

Lakehead Leader Awards

Lakehead Leader Awards ceremonies were held with 26 students in Thunder Bay and 14 students in Orillia receiving awards. Award recipients were recognized for their achievements in one or more of the following categories: Community Engagement, Diversity & Inclusion, Innovation, Sustainability, Academic Excellence, and Rising Star. In addition, nine students (five in Thunder Bay and four in Orillia) were recognized with a Lakehead Luminary award in recognition of achievements spanning multiple categories. Congratulations to all of the award winners!

It's Your Move 100 Hour Challenge

The It's Your Move Crew are running back our summer-long challenge to log 100 hours of physical activity but we've added a new wrinkle- not only will we be tracking your progress, we'll also be tracking which faculty or department is leading the way!

If 100 hours is too rich for your blood- don't worry we'll be celebrating those who hit 25, 50 and 75 hours over the course of the summer.
