Lakehead University’s Faculty of Business Administration in Thunder Bay has earned the highly-coveted accreditation with The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

“Thank you to the faculty members, students, alumni, and the local business community for helping us earn AACSB accreditation in Lakehead University’s 50th Anniversary year,” said Dr. Bahram Dadgostar, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration.

“For more than five years, the Faculty of Business Administration has used strong quality assurance processes to fine tune our programs and bring us in-line with top business schools from around the world,” Dr. Dadgostar said.

Less than five per cent of the world’s 15,761 business programs hold AACSB accreditation. Today, there are only 745 business schools in 50 countries and territories that maintain AACSB accreditation. In Canada, only 22 schools (including Lakehead) have earned ACCSB accreditation.

“With faculty members active in teaching, research and service, Lakehead’s Faculty of Business Administration delivers a quality business education in a small-class environment that leads our graduates to success,” said Lakehead President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Brian Stevenson.

“AACSB accreditation is another feather in our cap demonstrating the exceptional education that students receive at Lakehead,” Dr. Stevenson added.

Once a school earns AACSB accreditation, it enters a five-year continuous improvement review cycle, ensuring accredited schools continually improve and maintain the highest levels of quality.

“AACSB congratulates Lakehead University and Dean Bahram Dadgostar on earning accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, Executive Vice-President and Chief Accreditation Officer of AACSB International.

“AACSB accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. The entire Lakehead team – including the administration, faculty, directors, staff, and students – are to be commended for their roles in earning accreditation.”

“It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn AACSB accreditation, and I commend Lakehead University for its dedication to management education, as well as its leadership in the community,” Reid said.

Lakehead’s Faculty of Business Administration offers a four-year Honours Bachelor of Commerce program with majors and minors in accounting, business economics, finance, general management, human resources management/industrial relations, international business, management of information systems, and marketing.

The Faculty also offers a three-year Bachelor of Administration degree as well as an MBA and Master of Science in Management degree.

AACSB International is a global, non-profit membership organization of educational institutions, businesses, and other entities devoted to the advancement of management education. Established in 1916, AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education.
