Natural Resources, Forestry, or other Wildlife and Ecosystem focused Diploma to Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management or Honours Bachelor of Forestry
Program Information
You enter into Year 3 of the four-year Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry or Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management program and can complete your degree in as little as two years. All admits are required to complete the four-week summer transition program prior to entering the fall semester. The summer transition classes normally begin in July.
Modern Natural Resources Management is about people, science and technology. It manages the natural environment for the benefit of society, through the application of both natural and social science. As a student, you will acquire a complement of business skills, scientific expertise, along with practical experience; in fact, everything necessary to create meaningful and lasting solutions to the environmental challenges of today. You have the opportunity to discover methods that will sustain our forests and ecosystems for generations to come. You also have the opportunity to focus your studies for either degree program and graduates also qualify for membership in a variety of professional associations:
- Forestry students can specialize in the areas of Forest Management, Wood Science, or Forest Health and Protection with qualifications post-graduation to be members of the Canadian Institute of Forestry, and eligibility to apply for registration with the Ontario Professional Foresters Association to obtain their Registered Professional Forester (R.P.F.) designation.
- Environmental Management students can specialize in the areas of Wildlife Conservation and Management, Sustainable Land Use, or Conservation Management and Planning with qualifications post-graduation to apply to join the Canadian Association of Environment, and/or seek accreditation for their Environmental Professional Certification with ECO Canada. Graduates who successfully complete the Wildlife Conservation and Management specialization are eligible for accreditation as a Certified Wildlife Biologist by the Wildlife Society.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission, you must:
- complete a two- or three-year technician or technology diploma from an accredited Canadian college in a discipline related to forestry, natural environment, wildlife, and/or ecosystem management, and
- Examples of acceptable diplomas include but are not limited to:
- Fish & Wildlife Technician Diploma
- Environmental Technology or Technician Diploma
- Ecosystem Management Technology or Technician Diploma
- Forestry Technician or Technology Diploma
- Natural Environment Technician or Technology Diploma
- Examples of acceptable diplomas include but are not limited to:
- Achieve a 70% average in the last year of studies; or
- Achieve 65% in the last year of study plus 2 years of proven career experience in a relevant field post-studies.

- Use the OUAC Undergraduate Application. You may need to create an account first, if you have never applied using the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) before.
- Select the program Natural Resources Management: Environmental Management & Forestry (Pathways with All Ontario Colleges) (Thunder Bay Campus only). The OUAC program code is ABF.
- Select Environmental Management or Forestry using the Subject of Major Interest drop-down menu.
- As you proceed through the application process, use the Online Transcript Request to have your transcript(s) sent to us, if applicable:
- We require all of your post-secondary transcripts (i.e. from all colleges and universities attended).
- We do not require your high school transcript.
- Some colleges do not add in progress courses to their transcripts. If you are currently completing courses, you are encouraged to upload a screenshot of your upcoming winter term courses to your myInfo account. You will receive your myInfo login credentials in an acknowledgement email from us upon receipt of your application (which can take a few days after you apply using the OUAC).
