Geology Technician (Co-Op) Diploma from Fleming College to Honours Bachelor of Science (Geology) Degree Transfer Program

Program Information

You enter into Year 2 of the four-year Honours Bachelor of Science (Geology major) program and can complete your degree in as little as three years.  

Geology is a qualitative science that combines elements of physics, chemistry, biology and other sciences to study the Earth, the processes that make up the Earth, and the history of our planet. As a student in the program you will:

  • Examine rocks, minerals, and sediment
  • Study environmental hazards
  • Explore elements that make up the planets and moons in our solar system
  • And learn much more about our Earth's 4.5 billion-year history

Our location amidst the Canadian Shield functions as an outdoor lab and classroom. Our faculty regularly holds classes outside and organizes field trips and extended field schools to take advantage of the superior environment and give you practical training that is highly valued by the industry from day one. Our faculty collaborates with industry, government, and other academics with research covering the spectrum, from pure to applied science. This breadth of expertise and course content can meet the interests of any student in the program.

Our program is designed to ensure that you will have the necessary courses to register as a Professional Geologist with APGO, which is required to work as a geologist in Ontario. This experience makes our students highly employable post-graduation.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission, you must:

  • Complete a two-year Geology Technician Diploma (Co-op) from Fleming College, and
  • Achieve an overall average of at least 70%.

  1. Use the OUAC Undergraduate Application. You may need to create an account first, if you have never applied using the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) before. 
  2. Select the program Geology (Pathway with Fleming College) (Thunder Bay Campus only)The OUAC program code is ADG.
  3. As you proceed through the application process, use the Online Transcript Request to have your transcript(s) sent to us, if applicable: 
    1. We require all of your post-secondary transcripts (i.e. from all colleges and universities attended).
    2. We do not require your high school transcript.
    3. Some colleges do not add in progress courses to their transcripts. If you are currently completing courses, you are encouraged to upload a screenshot of your upcoming winter term courses to your myInfo account. You will receive your myInfo login credentials in an acknowledgement email from us upon receipt of your application (which can take a few days after you apply using the OUAC).
