Satisfying Lakehead's English Language Proficiency Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate they can cope with the language demands of an English language university. To satisfy Lakehead University's English Language Proficiency requirements, applicants must use one of our approved methods outlined here.
A common method to satisfy English Language Proficiency requirements is to complete academic English courses. Lakehead University offers the Academic English Program (AEP) and Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP) through the on-campus English Language Centre. Our specialized AEP goes far beyond a general understanding of everyday English as it focuses on the development of complex language features and academic skills that are necessary to be successful in completing an academic program at the university level.
