Mini Workshop - How to Navigate D2L and Mylnfo

Presented by Lakehead's Academic Support Zone

Are you worried about how to use D2L? Are you wondering what Mylnfo is?

During the ISSC's Open House you will have the chance to learn and have all your questions answered about D2L and Mylnfo.

Join us on September 5, 2025 while we raise the Survivors' Flag to honour residential school Survivors and all the lives and communities impacted by the residential school system in Canada.

The Indigenous Student Services Centre is honoured to welcome Elder Beatrice Twance-Hynes, who is available to meet with students, staff, and faculty for individual or small group teachings.

Elder Beatrice is a member of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg First Nation. A traditional women’s dancer who crafts her own regalia, she also carries the grandmother pipe and serves as a sacred circle facilitator, songwriter, singer, and drummer. She generously shares teachings on Hand Drumming, the Medicine Wheel, Sacred Medicines, and the Seven Grandfather Teachings. 

You are invited to visit Elder Beatrice in the Elders Room, located in the Gakina Nindinawemaaganag Lounge (UC1007).

Join the Office of Indigenous Initiatives and Student Health & Wellness for Gardening Days throughout the summer. Every Thursday morning from 10 am - 12 pm. Drop-in to help weed, water, and tend to the gardens with love and care. Garden time is social time so enjoy taking a break with fellow volunteers to chat while gardening! Everyone is welcome. 

Join The Office of Indigenous Initiatives for a Lunch and Learn about the Wit'suwet'en peoples' fight to resist the construction of multiple pipelines on their traditional territory. There will be a screening of the documentary film 'YINTAH' followed by a pizza lunch.

Join the Office of Indigenous Initiatives and the Orillia Native Women's Group for a Planting Ceremony in the Wiigwasitig Gitigaan 'Birch Tree Garden' and the Ambe Tigadaw 'Three Sisters Garden.' It's that time of year to express gratitude, connect with nature, and share in the sacredness of the gardens and their purpose. 

Everyone is welcome, and lunch will be provided! 

Join the Office of Indigenous Initiatives and Orillia Native Women's Group and get your hands dirty in the Wiigwasitig Gitigaan & Ambe Tigadaw gardens!

Spring is finally upon us, and we're eager and ready to do a spring clean-up and site prep for our gardens for the planting and growing season!
