Ecosystem Management Technology Diploma to Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management Degree Transfer Program

Program Information

Modern Natural Resources Management is about people, science and technology. It manages the natural environment for the benefit of society, through the application of both natural and social science. As a student, you will acquire a complement of business skills, scientific expertise, along with practical experience; in fact, everything necessary to create meaningful and lasting solutions environmental challenges of today. You have the opportunity to discover methods that will sustain our forests and ecosystems for generations to come. Should you decide to enrol in Environmental Management, you may choose between three options after your second year of study: Wildlife Conservation and Management, Sustainable Land Use, or Conservation Management and Planning.

Graduates of the Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management degree may apply to join the Canadian Association of Environment, and they may also seek accreditation for their Environmental Professional Certification with ECO Canada.

Graduates who successfully complete the Wildlife Conservation and Management specialization are eligible for accreditation as a Certified Wildlife Biologist by the Wildlife Society.

How the Transfer Program Works

You enter into Year 3 of the four-year Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management program, and can complete your degree in as little as two years. All admits are required to complete the four-week summer transition program prior to entering the fall semester. The summer transition classes normally begin in July. To see the courses that are part of the program, refer to our Academic Calendar and select:

  1. Programs & Faculties from the menu,
  2. Undergraduate Programs from the Faculty of Natural Resources Management section, and
  3. Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management, Transfer Opportunities from the list of programs. 
  4. You should also review Years 3 and 4 found using the Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management link.

Admission Requirements

To be consider for admission, you must:

  • Complete a three-year Ecosystem Management Technology Advanced Diploma from an accredited Canadian college, and
  • Achieve a 70% average in the final year of the program.

Application Process

To apply, please:

  1. Use the OUAC Undergraduate Application. You may need to create an account first, if you have never applied using the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) before. 
  2. Select the program Natural Resources Management: Enviro­nmental Management & Forestry (Pathways with All Ontario Colleges) (Thunder Bay Campus only). The OUAC program code is ABF.
  3. Select Environmental Management using the Subject of Major Interest drop-down menu.
  4. As you proceed through the application process, use the Online Transcript Request, to have your transcript(s) sent to us, if applicable: 
    1. We require all of your post-secondary transcripts (i.e. from all colleges and universities attended).
    2. We do not require your high school transcript.
    3. Some colleges do not add in progress courses to their transcripts. If you are currently completing courses, you are encouraged to upload a screenshot of your upcoming winter term courses to your myInfo account. You will receive your myInfo login credentials in an acknowledgement email from us upon receipt of your application (which can take a few days after you apply using the OUAC).
