The Recruitment Admissions Officer is a joint position between Undergraduate Admissions and Undergraduate Recruitment that serves as both a fully trained Admissions Officer and Recruiter. As an Admissions Officer this position provides admissions counselling and conducts admissions assessments. As a Recruiter, the individual is involved in recruiting and converting students by coordinating and representing Lakehead at various events both virtually and in person, such as high school visits, college fairs, community events, career fairs, and other venues across Thunder Bay and the province. Qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent education in a related field;
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience working in a post-secondary setting in the field of student admissions and / or recruitment;
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and willingness and ability to travel on university business, often on short notice
  • Demonstrated excellence in public speaking with the ability to create and deliver dynamic presentations;

It is the expectation that the Professional will guide students through their enrolment in order to become self-reliant in terms of their educational pathways and choices. This role includes providing support to many student populations to guide them through their educational journey, and assisting in the execution of proactive recruitment campaigns, early outreach and support initiatives for students. Participation in the University’s Convocation ceremonies is also part of this role.

 

The position requires a high level of customer service and engagement, which may require variable hours of work based on operational needs.

 

Candidates to this position must have completed a university degree along with at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a student service advisory role. The successful candidate has the demonstrated ability to respond to student needs with a holistic approach as well as strong working knowledge of University policies and procedures and the functions within Undergraduate Admissions, Student Awards & Financial Aid, and Academic Advising, Records & Registration. Job Description:

As a Research Associate at Lakehead University under the supervision of Dr. Nicholas Ravanelli, you will be a key member of an immerging research laboratory exploring human heat health as we enter into unprecedented periods of global warming. This position will play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of a series of unique ecologically valid research protocols designed to characterize the responses of vulnerable populations during the warmest periods of the year. Specifically, the Research Associate will support the execution of planned remote data collection projects with collaborators in the coming months and support the optimization of current infrastructure to scale the capacity created within Dr. Ravanelli’s research team.

 

The Research Associate will focus specifically on coordinating data collection, participant recruitment and individual support throughout participation, aggregating collected data for interpretation, and engaging in hardware and/or software development to optimize current data collection programs and workflow. Furthermore, the they will be provided opportunities to engage with key stakeholders and experts in heat health, interpret and present preliminary findings at scientific conferences, and lead drafting of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

 

Qualifications:

The candidate must have completed or be in the process of completing a PhD in a related field (e.g., Health Sciences, Biotechnology, etc.). Experience in software development and or basic coding knowledge an asset, but not a requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS

-        Post-secondary education in Accounting or Bookkeeping

-        2 years’ experience in retail purchasing and warehousing, as well as supervisory experience, preferably with a background in office, school and art supplies.

-        Demonstrated experience in working with inventory and budget management in a retail setting

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in student recruitment, marketing/public relations or other related experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment. An outstanding communicator with demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, they will have excellent time management, analytical and organizational abilities with a strong independent work ethic. You have proven experience and expertise developing and implementing integrated marketing, communications and recruitment plans for multiple audiences, demonstrating knowledge of communications and marketing skills with an ability to incorporate both traditional and new media technologies into campaign activities. You must have a demonstrated ability to foster, develop and maintain successful working relationships with multiple audiences. Familiar with the Lakehead University Academic Calendar regulations, specifically university regulations as they apply to student petition late withdrawal submissions.  Liaising with faculty, staff, and students with respect to collection of essential petition documentation.  Maintain a petition database to ensure timely turnaround of petition files submitted for review.

 

This role will also be responsible for ensuring correct registration and confirmation for government student loan recipients through multiple portals and pathways throughout the year.  The successful applicant should have a strong understanding of provincial and federal student loan acts and regulations, as they are responsible for the record management of all loan documentation and reviewing and approving profile and supporting documents while acting as a liaison between the university and the provincial and federal governments.  The applicant will have sound organizational management skills in order to develop and report cost codes to provincial governments as requested, and the daily uploading and updating of student files. Working with highly confidential information is also an important aspect of this role.

 

 

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Business or the equivalent combination of education and 2

This multi-million-dollar research chair is funded by a consortium involving Green Technology Metals, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, and the University. This Chair provides extraordinary opportunity for establishing a technology-based hub for advanced research into the processing of critical materials. Since this is a Research Chair, teaching assignments will be reduced accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post secondary degree related to technology or relevant experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, paired with the ability work independently or in a team setting.
  • 2 years experience developing and maintaining an enterprise level telephony system
  • Adept in multi-vendor network equipment programming including: Cisco IOS, Cisco NXOS, Nortel CLI, Fortinet and an overall familiarity with network configuration interfaces
  • Detailed understanding of LAN switching technologies, routing protocols, IP services and QoS
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Linux, Unix and MacOS operating systems

We are looking for a highly motivated student to conduct sharing circles with Indigenous youth. In partnership with the
Nokiiwin Tribal Council and Qwantech, we developed an e-mental health application for Indigenous workplaces titled
'Wiiji'. We evaluated the app in the working-age population to assess improvement in Indigenous workplace mental health
and found that no one used the Wiiji peer-support function. Our participant pool was 92% over 21 years of age. Now, we
would like to determine if younger individuals, aged 10 to 20, would use a revised Wiiji app for peer support to help build
personal resilience and healthy coping techniques to prepare them for the labour force. We would also like to understand
what changes youth would like to see in such an app.
This position is available at the “Enhancing the Prevention of Injury and Disability (EPID) @ Work Research Institute” in
collaboration with the “Nokiiwin Tribal Council”.

Key accountabilities:
• Work collaboratively with the project team (EPID@Work scientific members and the Nokiiwin Tribal Councils
staff)
• Conduct Sharing circles with Indigenous youth
• Conduct Qualitative data analyses with team of researchers using NVIVO or other qualitative analysis software
• Draft reports and presentations based on the analyses conducted
• Collect, analyze, interpret, validate and present data to stakeholders

Qualifications:
• Bachelors or Graduate degree in progress
• Training in qualitative research methods is considered an asset
• Preference will be given to Indigenous students who self-declare
• Experience with NVIVO for data management and statistical analysis is considered an asset
• Strong qualitative research skills – approachable, ability to build rapport, and good conversational skills

The role oversees the Campus Tour Program, as lead for the Thunder Bay campus. This includes continuous monitoring of content delivery, hiring, training and coaching of student workers, introductory and closing touch points with prospects, follow up tracking and communications.  The role oversees all Thunder Bay student worker hiring, training, performance and task management as well as office administration

 

Candidates to this position must have completed a university degree and have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related capacity. As an outstanding communicator and presenter with demonstrated event planning skills, you have excellent time management, analytical and organizational abilities with a strong independent work ethic. You must have a demonstrated ability to foster, develop and maintain successful working relationships with multiple audiences and the ability to manage creative large-scale events. Sensitivity to privacy issues and a flexible work schedule is expected for this position. A Class G driver's licence is required, due to travel requirements.
