Today is MIRRORLESS MONDAY:

Celebrate Your Uniqueness

Take a break from the mirror today and be good to yourself and your body. Accept yourself as you are and embrace the strengths and positive qualities you possess. Remember that a mirror can't reflect how amazing you really are.

Everyone has different strengths regardless of their shape or size. Let yours shine.

Don't let reflections in the mirror, distorted by socially constructed ideals of beauty, define who you are. The mirror is a tool, not a reflection of your self-worth. You are worthy just as you are. You are unique and there's no one like you.

Take a break from the mirror and be kind to yourself. You are strong. You are valuable. You are enough.

Campus and Community Supports:

If you're struggling with body image or self-esteem issues, remember that there's help available.

  • Student Health and Wellness is here to support you.
  • Reach out to nedic.ca or call 1-866-633-4220 or 519-888-4096.
  • If you prefer texting, send GOOD2TALKON to 686868.

Join the conversation on social media using the hashtags #MIRRORLESSMONDAY and

#LUMIRRORLESSMONDAY. Check out Lakeheadu.ca/shw for more wellness tips and support.

Remember the Essence of Mirrorless Monday

Mirrorless Monday is all about self-acceptance and self-love. It's about challenging the societal norms of beauty and embracing our unique selves. It's about understanding that our worth goes beyond our physical appearance. It's about understanding that we are more than a number on a scale or a reflection in a mirror. It's about celebrating the fact that we are strong, valuable, and enough just as we are.

So, take a break from the mirror. Offer yourself acceptance and compassion. Celebrate your uniqueness. Remember, you are worthy just as you are. You deserve to feel good about yourself. Enjoy being uniquely you.

Did you know? Sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs**) like chlamydia and gonorrhea often have no symptoms. Regular testing is key to staying healthy and preventing the transmission of STBBIs.

Book an appointment for STBBI testing with Student Health and Wellness in February and receive a free PopTart!

How to Book:

* Request an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner through MySuccess using the "Orillia Wellness Request Form"

* You'll receive an email with a link to book your appointment online (appointments are available on Thursday's at the Wellness Centre, room 1012 in the residence building)

* You'll be given your Poptarts at your appointment!

Not sure if you need STBBI testing? You can still book an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner to have your sexual health questions answered.

*Why STBBI? The term STBBI includes both sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections, recognizing that some infections (like HIV and hepatitis B & C) can be spread in multiple ways, not just through sexual contact.
