As a university student, you may sometimes experience mental health concerns or stressful events that interfere with your wellbeing and negatively impact your daily activities and academic performance. As a Lakehead student, you have access to many resources and services to support your health and well-being.
Student Health and Wellness is making it easier to connect students to appropriate mental health resources with the launch of the WellU Key, powered by GreenSpace. The WellU Key provides you with a one-stop resource for mental health: complete a self-assessment and get personalized recommendations about services, supports and resources available to you on and off-campus. With the WellU Key, you'll know where to get the help you're looking for.
Based on a stepped-care approach to mental health, the WellU Key is a campus mental health navigation hub that includes a brief, self-report mental health assessment and highlights the different types of support and resources available to them. You will have the information to make your own care decisions and regularly complete assessments. This means that you can seek the type of care that is best for you!
Counselling Services
Often, students mention that a helpful way of dealing with problematic situations and feelings is to start by talking them through with a qualified mental health professional.
Counselling at Student Health and Wellness is a free, short-term, client-centred, non-judgmental service. Licensed/registered, professionally trained counsellors provide one-to-one counselling to students and help them address their needs.
