Office of the Ombudsperson

Welcome!

Our office provides confidential guidance, assistance, and support services to all members of the University community. Our main goal is to ensure that all students, staff, and faculty are treated fairly and equitably.

Do you feel that you were treated unfairly? Do you have a concern?

If you ever face a problem while at Lakehead, or feel that something wasn’t fair, you can contact the Ombudsperson. We will help you answer questions and resolve problems, complaints or concerns about anything at Lakehead University. The office can help with a variety of concerns including academic concerns – courses, placements, grading, appeals, and plagiarism – as well as non-academic concerns – personal matters, financial aid, fees, registration, safety, interpersonal conflicts, housing and residence, employment, and misconduct.

The Ombudsperson works in a collaborative way for fair, constructive and equitable resolutions to University concerns, and is:

  • impartial
  • confidential
  • independent
  • informal
  • approachable and easy to access
  • responsive
