WellU Resilience Course

WellU Resilience is an 8 week, evidence-based course developed by Student Health and Wellness to help students’ learn to manage stress in healthy ways. The course features videos, slideshows, skill-building activities, resources and information to help students build resilience. Each week participants will learn about and practice a habit/skill that has been proven to increase life satisfaction, happiness and resilience, which all correlate with success and improved academic performance.

To Sign Up

  2. Select the Self-Registration: Academic Support and Training link from the Support menu on the right of the mycourselink home page.
  3. Click on the WellU Resilience registration link.
  4. Click Register

The Student Wellness Advisory Team (SWAT) aims to facilitate student input into the overall operations of Student Health and Wellness, Lakehead University’s Wellness Strategy and Student Health and Wellness’ Health Promotion Strategy.  This year we are starting the school year with a town hall to discuss the topics and issues relevant to students during the new COVID-19 landscape. This event is for students from Thunder Bay and Orillia.

Don't Stress the Test

Student Health and Wellness is offering an email-based, 6-week Introduction to Meditation program. Each week, you will get advice, resources and mindfulness practices to try from SHW counsellor, Trudy Kergon.

Running with the Wolves

Running with the Wolves is a Virtual Run Club for first time runners or those running for the first time in a while!

Beginning on September 27, participants will receive a weekly newsletter with running tips and tricks from Lakehead University Track and Field athletes and coaches, and Student Health and Wellness. This program will help participants go from 0 to 5k throughout the 8 weeks. 

They will be a part of a community through Strava Clubs where they can meet other runners, get motivated, and share their favourite photos. 

This program is open to current students, incoming students, staff, faculty, and alumni from either Campus. Sign up by September 25th!

How to register

Register for the Thunderwolves Running with Wolves Programs by completing this google form! Instructions for joining the Strava club will be sent upon receipt of registration. 

FAQ

Q: Do I need a Strava Account?

A: Yes, in order to fully participate in the community aspect of Running with the Wolves, a Strava Account is necessary. You can create a free Strava Account here: https://www.strava.com/register/free.

Please note it is not necessary to purchase any of the subscriptions associated with Strava to participate in Running with the Wolves 

Q: Do I need to run with my phone or a GPS Tracking Device?

A: No! A GPS Tracker is not necessary to participate, as you can manually input your runs onto Strava using these instructions if you prefer to run without a GPS tracker or phone.
