Mandatory Training Procedure - AODA Legislation; Customer Service

In January 2008, the Ontario government enacted the customer service regulation under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. To be compliant with the government regulation, all organizations must train. In the case of the University this training requirement applies to all personnel including faculty, staff, managers, directors, department heads, senior administrators, and student workers or volunteers.

An e-learning course has been designed to assist Ontario universities to meet the training requirements of the customer service standard.

To access the course go to http://mycourselink.lakeheadu.ca You may then log in using your Lakehead University email user name and password at the login prompt. When logged in, use the "select a course" dropdown list can be found just above the Lakehead University logo to select "Accessibility Training."

For those employees who are unable to access the e-training or who desire to complete the requirement through group training, a limited number of in-person training sessions will be planned. Please consult with Ursula MacDonald at the contact information below if you are interested or require such training.

Human Resources will monitor the individual progress to ensure the University is compliant. Reminders will be sent out on a regular basis.

After four (4) weeks, individuals who have yet to complete the training will be contacted. Supervisors are responsible to ensure all training is completed.

Any questions or concerns regarding this matter should be forwarded to the Office of Human Resources attention Ursula MacDonald at umacdona@lakeheadu.ca or extension 8671.
