First Aid Resources For Employees and Departments at Lakehead University

To support the health and safety of our employees and departments, the university provides first aid resources in compliance with Ontario Regulation 1101 (First Aid Requirements). Strategically placed, fully stocked first aid kits are accessible throughout campus. These kits contain essential materials to address common workplace injuries, including but not limited to:
- Bandages
- Adhesive dressings (various sizes and types)
- Gauze pads
- Medical tape
- Disposable gloves
- Scissors
- Tweezers
- CPR pocket mask (where applicable)
- First aid manual
Replacement materials are available using the Request Form below:
Employees
- Need to know the location of the nearest first aid kit
- Kit must be accessible at all times
- Kits are required to visible with signage posted at the location.
- Employees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the location and contents of these kits available in their work area.
- In the event of an injury, please utilize the kits provided and if needed, seek assistance from a designated first aid attendant, if available
- Ensure that the kit is maintained

- Please ensure that you include first aid kit locations in your orientation with new department personnel

First Aid Training:
To help ensure each department has designated support, the Office of Human Resources – H&S provides first aid training for up to two full-time employees per department. If interested in being the designated first aider for your department, please complete the form by following this link.
