Passwords are a critical aspect of computer security, forming the front line of protection for user accounts.

This document outlines the proper complexity requirements and management practices of passwords for all computer systems at Lakehead University. This will apply but is not limited to myEmail, myCourseLink, myInfo (WebAdvisor), WebAdmin (web page management), and Library Proxy. It is expected that all members of Lakehead University abide by these standards.

3. Confirm your new password by retyping it.

4. Enter your Secret Questions and Answers. Two of your secret questions and secret answers will be required at a later date if you forget your password. Make sure you will remember them.

Select a question you can answer easily but that will be difficult for others to guess. Treat your secret question like any other confidential information; don’t share it.

For security purposes, you might try using an incorrect or irrelevant answer to the question. For example: If your secret question is “What is your favourite food?” you might choose “Moscow” for your answer.
Choose a question that does not have an obvious answer.

5. Check the box indicating that you have read and accepted the terms then click on the Submit button.

6. Once your password is reset you will see a myInfo page that indicates your password has been changed. You may now login with your new password.
