Testing Room Accommodations (in person only)

Students may face barriers, related to the functional limitations of their disability and/or medical condition, that may be accommodated by the number of students in a room, the location of a room or the accessibility of the room for mobility equipment/aids. SAS coordinates the appropriate rooms to accommodate students with testing room accommodations. Students writing in person/on campus tests/exams/quizzes are responsible to register to write these assessments with the SAS office.

Testing Room accommodations can include the following:

  • Distraction reduced environment (for on campus or online proctored tests/exams/quizzes)
    • SAS caps the number of students in a Distraction Reduced room at 15

  • Small group: 5 (if available) for in person tests written with SAS
  • Separate room (if available) for in person tests written with SAS
    • A very rare accommodation; due to available space may not be available

  • Proximity to washroom (for in person tests written with SAS)
  • Wheelchair accessible room (for in person tests written with SAS)

The student may also have a testing room accommodation because they require the assistance of an invigilator for specific tasks and the distraction this would create for other students requires that the student be provided a separate room (ex. scribe/reader).
