7. Items for Discussion

• AED at Heritage Place

o Approval has been received by the Vice-President, Administration and Finance to fund an AED at Heritage Place

o Joint Health and Safety Committee has discussed in the past where the AED should go in Heritage Place

o Discussion in the past has been regarding cost sharing.  At this time Lakehead University will be covering the cost so we are looking for the best place to install the AED as quickly as possible

o John will speak with the Heritage Place Staff.  The point of the AED is to save lives.  Suggests that it is in a location accessible to as many people as possible.  Recommends put it in the main lobby or the corridor.

o Concern putting the AED in an area too close to outside may increase the chance of it being stolen

o John will talk to the building operator to see if there is a place to install the AED that is accessible and less likely to be stolen

o With the AED training dollars are available from the provider.  Now that we have two units it is suggested that Lakehead University should look at ways to use the training dollars
