The Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) and Lakehead University have partnered together to facilitate the Transfer and Mature Student Transition Program and the Academic Preparedness and Bridging Program.  The project will allow for early engagement in building awareness and offering targeted support for mature and transfer students attending Lakehead University. The project will also support students who face ongoing barriers through their academic journeys. Programming is focused on unique orientation experiences, a mature-student success series of workshops and peer mentoring within the orientation leader’s model. Ease of access to programming and increased transitional supports will help ensure students are earning postsecondary credits and achieving their individual academic goals

 

Reporting to the Director, Student Success, the Transfer Student Project Facilitator is responsible for the planning and facilitation of project deliverables between ONCAT and Lakehead University for these projects.  The Facilitator will ensure the Project deliverables are met through strong internal communication and interdepartmental collaboration, including with Undergraduate Admissions and Advising intersection with the Joint Admissions Program and Pathways with Confederation College.  They will Development programming activities for Mature/Transfer Student Communications that elevates the awareness and understanding of planned targeted programming and support and develop the Mature Student Orientation, both in person and virtually.  As a part of the Student Success Centre (SSC) team, the facilitator will support other programs and events offered by the SSC with particular attention to the needs of mature and transfer students.

 

Other duties will include:

 

  • Best practice review & comprehensive project work plan development: Transfer and Mature Student Program & Academic Preparedness and Bridging Program.
  • Staff and student engagement at Confederation College to inform work plan development.
  • Mature Student Orientation Leader recruitment and onboarding, including targeted activities/event planning, schedule and communication
  • Development of a Mature Student Workshop Series, schedule and topics of interest.
  • Ensure promotion, faculty recruitment & ensure delivery of a University Seminar Course for mature and transfer students.
  • Plan strategies for measuring Mature and Transfer Student academic success (qualitative feedback).

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma
  • Demonstrated related experience in project management, work plan development, project implementation, event planning, implementation and evaluation in a post secondary setting.
  • Background in event coordination, event action plan development and budgeting.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and present information to large groups in an engaging manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Effective marketing skills and usage of social media and emerging communication channels.
  • Understanding the intricacies of time management and prioritization of tasks.
  • Understanding of presentation software and spreadsheet software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of University programming requirements, regulations, department specific information and other university services for the purpose of appropriate referrals.
