Lakehead University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Psychology Clinic Director within the Department of Psychology. Based in picturesque Thunder Bay, the regional capital of Northwestern Ontario which is located in the center of Canada and with close proximity to the United States.

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Programs (DCP), the Psychology Clinic Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day clinic operations, clinic development and planning, individual supervision of practicum students as well as limited provision of direct clinical services.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Consulting with administration, faculty, and staff towards building the Psychology Training Clinic.
  • Managing the in-clinic clinical training infrastructure, including organizing community outreach for recruiting clients and promoting ethical, evidence-based psychological assessments and intervention.
  • Leading the development of training and clinical service focused grants to support the activities of the clinic.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the clinic to promote excellence in education for our clinical graduate students.
  • Maintaining the highest quality of care and ethical standards for our clients.
  • Overseeing referrals to the clinic.
  • Development, review, and implementation of clinic policies and procedures.
  • Development, review, and implementation of clinic forms, as well as implementing a client fee structure, provision of information and support to the clinic staff, students, and supervisors.
  • Managing the clinic with the clinic budget, including the preparation of financial plans in consultation with the DCP and the Dean of the Faculty of health and Behavioral Sciences.
  • Overseeing maintenance, security and storage of confidential client information and test materials, as well as the physical space of the clinic.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • PhD or psychology degree in clinical psychology from a CPA or APA accredited program
  • Current membership in good standing as a clinical psychologist with the College of psychologists of Ontario
  • Current professional liability insurance
  • Five years of clinical experience in assessment and treatment of emotional, cognitive, and behavioral problems including performing psychometric assessments, interpreting results, and preparing psychological evaluations
  • Experience supervising clinical psychology MA-, PhD-, and/or intern level trainees or other clinical psychology trainees in a clinical setting
  • In depth experience with psychological testing and report writing across diverse populations
  • Assessment and intervention experience consistent with theoretical orientation of our training program (CBT and 3rd wave approaches)
  • Knowledge of the Northwestern Ontario communities, and their health care systems and services, is an asset
