As an ambassador for Lakehead University, the Research Analyst is a key member of the External Relations philanthropic endeavors. The Research Analyst is responsible for conducting research to identify and qualify prospects for major gift cultivation and solicitation to support institutional and faculty-based cases for support. This research and analysis serves as the foundation of fundraising campaigns and directly contributes to the campaign’s success.

 

This specialized research and analysis facilitates the cultivation and solicitation of top prospects by the President, Vice-President and Associate Vice-President, External Relations as well as the Deans and Directors of Academic Units and Philanthropy Staff.

 

The Research Analyst acts as a resource to members of the External Relations Team and may be located in Thunder Bay, Orillia or a remote work location.If the work location is remote, the incumbent will be expected to be on campus (Thunder Bay and/or Orillia) from time to time.

 

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary diploma or degree, ideally in Computer Science, or a data-oriented field;

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in prospect research, computing systems, database management, fundraising or development, library research or information management or related areas;

• Demonstrated analytical skills to organize and manipulate data, initiate and perform complex analyses including data mining, and sophisticated queries;

• Knowledge of the range of resources available to prospect researchers and the ability to apply those resources in an organized and purposeful manner;

• Advanced computer skills, including experience downloading and exporting information between systems and developing robust reports;

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including diplomacy required to function effectively;

• Able to produce complex queries, exports and reports;

• Strong analytical skills to work with large volumes of data in support of key decisions and goals;

• Demonstrated flexibility in managing shifting demands and priorities while meeting multiple deadlines;

• Ability to work independently and with a team through collaboration by phone and videoconferencing;

• The incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license;

• The ability to work some evenings and weekends is required.
