The Research and Knowledge Mobilization Facilitator is responsible for promoting growth in external research funding opportunities in the social sciences, humanities and health at the University, and for supporting community-based research initiatives in the region. 

 

Reporting to the Director, Research Services, the successful candidate will work with faculty members, interdisciplinary research teams and centres, and Deans across the University to facilitate the development of competitive research grant proposals.  The Research and Knowledge Mobilization Facilitator will explore opportunities for the advancement of research and scholarly work in the social sciences and humanities at Lakehead University as well as research partnerships with the not-for-profit sectors and Indigenous communities.  The Research and Knowledge Mobilization Facilitator will also identify potential funding opportunities, and support the preparation of funding proposals. This will include performing background research on funding opportunities, writing and editing of proposals, and customizing proposals in response to funding agency guidelines and priorities.  The Research Facilitator will also organize grant-writing and other professional development workshops for researchers.  Experience with proposal writing would be considered a strong asset.

 

Job Requirements:

 

• A Masters degree in the social sciences, humanities or behavioural sciences (a PhD would   be an added asset), or have a combination of graduate education and 5 years’ related professional experience

• Experience in an area related to research administration, project management, fundraising and/or proposal development would be an asset

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

• Research, writing and copy-editing skills

• Ability to deliver professional development workshops

• An appreciation of the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

• Ability to work in a high volume and deadline driven environment

• Knowledge of research procedures and policies, including research ethics principles

• Familiarity with MS Office software

• Ability to work in a team environment
