Lakehead University invites applications from dynamic, creative and enthusiastic Human Resources professionals to join our Orillia campus team.

 

In coordination with a strong HR team based in Thunder Bay, this individual works closely with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the university offering personalized guidance, support, and solutions on a breadth of HR-related activities to the staff and faculty on the Orillia and Barrie campuses.  Reporting to the Associate Vice-President of Human Resources, the Human Resources Partner leads all functional areas of the human resource portfolio on the Orillia campus. The role requires a seasoned and strong generalist or business partner who is skilled in recruitment, HRIS, performance management, employee and labour relations, occupational health and safety, compensation and benefits, and training and development. Furthermore, this position will serve as an agent of change with the ability to foster strong, meaningful relationships and offer forward thinking HR improvements to our current, high functioning team. This is a pivotal role on the Orillia campus and requires an individual with a collaborative nature who thrives in a “small-but-mighty” team environment.

 

The successful candidate has completed post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related discipline. Completion of a CHRL designation is preferred, along with five years of professional Human Resources experience in an advisory role. Experience in an academic setting is an asset. The successful candidate also possesses strong knowledge of applicable legislation including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act.  With a focus on HR service delivery, the incumbent has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong coaching, mediation and conflict resolution skills, as well as an ability to work independently without close supervision in a demanding, fast paced environment.
