As a member of Enrolment Services, the Transfer Student Admissions Officer is responsible for assisting new College and University transfer students from the point of admission and beyond as well as maintaining the ONTransfer Course Equivalency Database.  Specific duties include contacting transfer student and setting up one-on-one academic advising appointments with new and existing transfer students to discuss their transfer credits and degree requirements, assisting them throughout registration and connecting to ensure on-going success in their studies.  Aids in the interpretation of university policies into operational objectives and priorities. It is expected that the incumbent will, in consultation with program Chairs/Directors/Graduate Coordinators, and other stakeholders as necessary conduct research on admissions policies related to credit transfer, provide support in review and revision of all admission related letters, respond to prospective students, applicants, and students, and handle concerns as outlined in admissions policies/procedures.  Additionally, the successful candidate will act as a liaison for the academic units in order for the candidate to maintain  and administer the ONTransfer database.

 

The incumbent has a post-secondary education with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in the field of admissions and specifically in the area of student mobility.  With an understanding of the admissions cycle, the successful candidate has demonstrated knowledge of academic program requirements, regulations, courses and timetable offerings.  A thorough understanding of credit transfer practices at Canadian post-secondary institutions is required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills are coupled with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions.  The ability to maintain confidentiality of student data records and understand the importance of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) are a must.
