The successful candidate will be responsible for providing teaching support and marking assistance for the laboratory component of physics courses (1st and 2nd year). Specific responsibilities include the set-up and tear down of student experiments, maintenance and repairs of experimental apparatus as well as collaborating with faculty to develop new experiments and to update laboratory manuals. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of the physics laboratory hardware and software including systems administration, user management, security and licensing compliance, web server maintenance along with website development, and the maintenance of chemical, equipment and supply inventories. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the supervision of graduate assistants and is expected to provide general support to the research endeavour of faculty in the department.
 
 
The ideal candidate has a Honours BSc or MSc in Physics, or a Technical Diploma.  Specific qualifications include a minimum of three years ' experience coupled with a technical aptitude related to the use of specialized physics tools and equipment. With strong troubleshooting capabilities, the successful candidate will also have the ability to repair and maintain equipment.  The incumbent must demonstrate patience, attention to detail and a commitment to safety and be able to lead students in a laboratory setting.
