The Lakehead Employee Experience Survey provides an opportunity for you to express your thoughts about your day-to-day work experience. Your insights guide actions that strengthen our culture, support professional growth, and enhance how we work together. Whether faculty or staff, you play a vital role in shaping what Lakehead is today–and what it can become tomorrow.
We circulated the first employee survey in 2019 and have been building on the results ever since—celebrating where we excel, addressing where we can do better, and keeping the momentum going for continuous improvement. Through your experiences, we gain the insight needed to make Lakehead an even better place to work, learn, belong, and thrive—together.

- The survey will be open from October 20 to November 16, 2025.
Metrics@Work will administer the survey.- The survey is anonymous. You will NOT be asked for personal identifiers in the survey such as your name, birth date, or employee number.
- Metrics@Work will receive your email addresses in order to administer the survey, but will not link email addresses to responses in any way when providing results to Lakehead.
- No one at Lakehead will have access to individual survey responses. Metrics@Work will not provide Lakehead with raw data/individual information.
- The survey is open to full-time and part-time faculty and staff.

| What is the purpose of an Employee Experience Survey? |
Employee engagement surveys are tools used by organizations to gather feedback from employees to assess their experiences, satisfaction, and overall engagement with their workplace. The results of employee engagement surveys typically identify areas of strength and areas needing attention. Employee experience is a key priority for Lakehead; this survey will provide a clear understanding of employee perspectives to drive continuous improvement. |
| Who is conducting the survey? |
Metrics@Work, an external consultant, will administer the survey. Metrics@Work is a leading provider of organizational measurement and consulting with extensive experience developing surveys for academic institutions. This ensures the process is managed fairly and confidentially. |
| Is the survey anonymous? |
Yes. Individual responses are anonymous and confidential. Lakehead will only receive aggregated group data – not individual responses. Reports will only be provided for groups with at least five (5) or more survey respondents. No groups can be combined or reported on in any way that would violate this rule or identify any individual response. In instances where you are asked to write a response, Metrics@Work will remove any names from the responses and will provide verbatim comments to Lakehead in a separate report. Please be careful not to identify yourself or any other individual by your comments. |
| What type of questions will the survey ask me? |
The survey asks questions about your overall job satisfaction, communication, professional development opportunities, work-life balance, teamwork, and leadership support. |
| How long will the survey take to complete? |
On average, the survey will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. |
| How do I complete the survey? |
You can complete the survey on your phone, laptop, etc. On October 20, 2025, you will receive an email from Metrics@Work Survey Delivery <noreply@qemailserver.com> with the subject line “Welcome to the 2025 Lakehead University Employee Experience Survey” and a link to the survey. The survey link will be available on the Lakehead website <link> and circulated via The Bulletin. |
| Who should complete the survey? |
The survey is open to all Lakehead faculty and staff. |
| Do I have to participate? |
Participation is voluntary, but we strongly encourage you to take part. The more voices we hear, the more accurately the results will reflect our true workplace experience. |
| How will the results be used? |
Following completion of the survey period, Metrics@Work will collate the results and prepare and deliver reports to Lakehead. Reports will be provided and presented to the executive team and subsequently, the senior management team. Shortly after reports are received and discussed with senior management, they will be disseminated to staff in each area for review, discussion, and goal development. |
| When will the results be available? |
We anticipate receiving the results from the 2025 Employee Experience Survey in early 2026. |
| Why should I complete the survey? |
Your input matters. This is your opportunity to share your perspective and help shape your future/vision of LU. Feedback from the survey will celebrate successes and identify opportunities to improve the employee experience so we can retain and attract exceptional employees. |
| How was the survey developed? |
The survey questions were developed in consultation with Metrics@Work based on comparator organization and industry best practice standards. Questions were selected from the Metrics@Work database, allowing us to compare the experience of our employees against other universities, colleges, and public-sector institutions in Canada. |
| How long will the survey be open? |
You can complete the survey between October 20 and November 16, 2025. |
| Is the online survey accessible? |

| I received a survey email with “TEST” in the subject line. Was that the real survey? Will the responses I already submitted still count? |
Yes. The message you received from Metrics@Work with “TEST…” in the subject line was not a test—it was the official Employee Experience Survey. The term “TEST” was accidentally left in the subject line during distribution. We are working with Metrics@Work to ensure future communications are corrected. Any responses submitted using that email have been successfully recorded and will be included in the final results. |
