Food and Mood - Online Learning Opportunity

Food and Mood is a FREE online course which explores the relationship between nutrition and mental health. The course explains how nutrition affects mental health, how food affects the brain, and introduces strategies to apply these learnings into practice. Food and Mood is self-led, free to access, and takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

This course is for you if:

  • You are a mental health professional (e.g., counsellor, social worker, psychotherapist, etc.); AND/OR
  • You work with clients who are living with mood and depressive disorders; AND/OR
  • You have a general interest in learning more about nutrition and mental health

Safety and Health Week - Events and Opportunities

Safety & Health Week 

    Together we can create safe workplaces and communities. This is the message behind Safety and Health Week happening from May 1-6, 2023. During this week, employers, employees, partners and the public are encouraged to put extra focus on preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home and in the community. 

    Visit the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety for information on special events happening during this week that you can participate in virtually. These include:

    • The National Launch Event on Monday, May 1
    • Your Role in Workplace Psychological Health webinar on Tuesday, May 2
    • Fostering an Inclusive Workplace webinar on Wednesday, May 3
    • Midday guided meditation on Thursday, May 4

    Steps for Life Walk
    Steps for Life - Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy is a fun 5 km fundraising walk in Thunder Bay on April 30, 2023 to help support families affected by life-altering workplace injuries, illnesses and deaths, members of Threads of Life. For more information, visit Steps for Life 2023 - Thunder Bay.

    Training for New Personnel - Online Only

    All new personnel including those hired to offices or labs, must complete new personnel safety training.

    In response to the on-going CoVid-19 pandemic, delivery of this training will continue be online only while the University is following physical distancing as a means to keep our community safe.

    Please go to http://mycourselink.lakeheadu.ca and follow the steps below to register for the online course and complete the training.  Training must be completed by new personnel within two (2) weeks of their start date.

     

    How to log into the Online Training Portal:

    1. Go to the Training Portal using the link below.
    2. Click "Self-registration: Academic Support and Training" link in the "Support" box at the top-right of the page.
    3. Select "Accessibility and Health and Safety Training" Link.
    4. Follow the instructions within the course page to navigate and complete your training.
    5. Select a training stream for your campus and job type.  Note, this only has to be completed the first time you log into the site, on subsequent visits, proceed directly to step 6.
    6. Navigate to the content tab.  You will find modules for the training required on the left hand side.  Modules without content are not required for your training stream.
