The Undergraduate Coordinator will be responsible for providing student outreach and engagement, including academic consultation, for undergraduate BScN students. The incumbent will also be involved with participating in the Admissions and Recruitment initiatives for the School of Nursing, timetables and registration activities, data collection, tracking and collation.

 

This position is tasked with activities such as meeting with students, providing academic advice and counselling, as well as, reviewing transcripts, determining academic progress, referring students to supports/resources, and collaborating with Clinical Placement Coordinator and faculty/staff. The Coordinator will be responsible for skillfully applying School’s policy/procedures, and approving special permission requests (e.g., course overload). Additionally, the Coordinator will be involved with activities such as participating in recruitment events, developing promotional materials, liaising with internal departments to determine suitability for transfer credits and advanced standing; timetable and scheduling activities through DCU system, booking rooms, managing course caps, curriculum navigator submissions, and collecting/tracking collating data as required, especially for program evaluations, approvals, and accreditation reviews. Other duties may be assigned as required, per the Director, School of Nursing.

 

The successful candidate must possess a BScN/BN degree and unrestricted RN license with the Ontario College of Nurses (CNO), this is mandatory. A minimum of three to five years clinical experience as an RN and teaching/education experience is required. Graduate education in progress or completed is preferred. Extensive knowledge of Lakehead University's BScN programs’ curricula and School of Nursing policies and procedures is preferred. Knowledge of Lakehead University and Faculty of Health & Behavioural Sciences policies and regulations (e.g, including special exams, student code of conduct, and academic integrity policies) is preferred. Knowledge of CASN Accreditation requirements and CNO Approval requirements for Nursing programs is preferred.

The successful candidate must have the ability to use technology (e.g., Microsoft Office, organizational specific software such as DCU, Curriculum Navigator, etc.).
