Reporting to the Director, Community Zone, the Instructional Designer will provide expert advice, collaborative technical, and pedagogical support to faculty and other subject matter experts regarding appropriate teaching strategies, learning activities and assessment mechanisms. They will advise on strategies for integration of appropriate learning technologies in the design and development of in-person, online, and blended non-credit and micro-credential offerings. The Instructional Designer will support the Teaching Commons in providing instructional design and development support for faculty, teaching, and administrative staff.

 

Insightful and detail-oriented, the Instructional Designer will determine appropriate instructional approaches/methodologies using educational technologies, such as Desire2Learn, to meet course outcomes established by the course instructor. They will collaborate with faculty, teaching and administrative staff to identify and integrate online resources and/or educational technologies in a sound, pedagogical manner to enhance the learning environment.  They will update existing course material and content as required and ensure consistency and standards are maintained in online courses and material.

 

The Instructional Designer will have experience in instructional design of non-credit/micro-credential and non-academic programming, in particular knowledge and experience with adult and professional education pedagogy. They will possess the ability to apply learning theory and methods to the use of educational technologies and applications to create engaging learning and training environments as well have experience with learning management systems, preferably Desire2Learn.
