Full Time OPSEU Position

$27.06 - $32.39 per hour

Primarily an 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. shift, Monday to Friday.

When required, hours of work may be modified to suit the needs of the University.

 

Lakehead University has an immediate opportunity for employment within the Technology Services Centre.  Under the general supervision of the Manager of Server, Desktop & Client Services, the incumbent will provide tier 1 support via phone, email, and in person, as it pertains to the University operation relating to hardware (Computers/Laptops/Tablets/Mobile Devices), applications, Windows domain services, printers, network access, telephones, remote connectivity, and other relevant technologies.

 

As the initial point of contact for reporting technical problems, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing clients with accurate, courteous, and clear technical assistance, creating and maintaining service requests via ticketing system, tutorial documentation, and contributing to an IT knowledge base.

 

The successful candidate has post-secondary education along with experience with Active Directory, Windows operating systems, MS Office/365 applications, Mac operating systems, Network (LAN/WAN) concepts, VPN technologies, mobile technologies, and printing solutions. Previous experience in a Help Desk role is preferred. The incumbent must possess the ability to process and prioritize a high volume of work with accuracy and efficiency. Excellent communication and customer service skills are a necessity as well as the demonstrated ability to work with a variety of customers at all levels. The ability to rapidly self-educate on new concepts and tools and a desire and ability to continue learning are key factors to success within this role.
